Where can I use Smoves for furniture storage?
In the Milan area, neighboring Lombard provinces included, and in the Florence one. Scroll down to «Where we do it» and open your city's page. For farther destinations we ship furniture on a quote.
How long does my furniture stay with you?
As long as you need: the rate is monthly and there is no minimum term. When you want the furniture back you book the redelivery, and the rate stops running.
Can you dismantle a wardrobe that won't fit through the door?
Yes, but it has to be requested when you book the pickup, with a free quote. Tell us which pieces and how narrow the stairs are, and we explain beforehand how we'll go about it.
Can I get back only the sofa and leave the rest?
Yes, you can have a single piece brought back. Tell us which, at least two days ahead: all the others stay in storage, under the same contract.
More questions
Is my furniture insured while it is in storage?
Yes: the rate includes the base limit of the insurance, and if you need a higher one you raise it for a monthly amount. During carriage the carrier's statutory liability applies.
Do I have to be there on pickup day?
You, or someone you appoint: a relative, a neighbor, whoever manages the rental. They need to open the door and show which pieces are leaving.

When does it make sense to put furniture into storage?
When a piece is still worth keeping but your home has no use for it, for now. You change apartment, empty one to rent it out, spend a while abroad, or inherit furniture you can't yet divide. Storage charges only for the space you take, for the months you need, with no minimum term.
The new home is smaller
The three-seater, the bookcase, the guest bed: they fit the old home, not the new one. Leave them with us and decide at your own pace what to keep.
You're away for a few months
A term abroad or a job in another city: the apartment is rented out empty and your furniture waits for you.
An inheritance not to be scattered
Family furniture isn't shared out in a weekend. We keep it safe, and the house is free again at once.
Seasonal or spare furnishings
The extending table, the extra chairs, the patio set in winter: they take up a room for four months a year.
How does furniture storage work?
Start from the city, then give the floor area and a free day in the calendar: the one you select is already confirmed. We load every piece, label it and set it aside. To get it back, just book the redelivery from your account, two days ahead at least.
1. Estimate the space
The calculator turns your list of furniture into square meters. Sizes start at 1 m² and run to 30.
2. Book the pickup
In the notes, give the floor, the elevator and the width of doors and stairs: they help us plan the loading.
3. We load, and dismantle if needed
If the piece fits through the door, it leaves whole. Otherwise we take it apart: the quote is free and you ask for it when you book the pickup.
4. You get it back where you want
Address and day of the redelivery are yours to choose, even for just some of the pieces: the rest stays in storage.
Which furniture can go into storage?
Almost every piece that furnishes a home: seating, wardrobes, beds, tables, bookcases and sideboards, plus appliances and boxes. A few categories stay out, such as money, original documents, liquids and fine art.

What does furniture storage cost?
The price depends on the city, because pickup and redelivery change with the area. The model is the same everywhere: each month you pay for the space your furniture takes, safekeeping included, and for the pickup once, at the start. The redelivery is settled at the moment you book it. The Milan and Florence pages carry that city's price list, and the online quote shows both amounts before you confirm.
