Work with us

Two ways to be part of Smoves

You can make the service run — pickups, warehouse, redeliveries — or bring us clients and earn on it. They're two different paths: both are below, with what it takes to start.

What a smover does

It isn't parcel delivery. You walk into people's homes at a moment when there are boxes everywhere and they're tired: half the job is logistics, the other half is how you handle that.

Pickups and redeliveries

You go to the customer's home in the agreed time slot, load the parcels and bring them to the warehouse. Then the reverse trip when they want them back.

You scan every parcel

Each box carries a unique code scanned at every step. It's the reason customers always know where their things are — so it has to be done properly, every time.

You are the face of Smoves

In most cases you're the only person from Smoves the customer actually meets. Punctuality and manners count as much as your back does.

You open a new city

In the cities we're opening, the first smover doesn't just execute: they help us work out how that market behaves. It's a different role and we treat it as one.

What it takes

  • A category B licence and confidence driving in a city
  • Able to lift and carry (a full box reaches 20 kg)
  • Punctuality and care in handling other people's things
  • A smartphone and ease with an app that scans codes
  • Fluent Italian; English is a real advantage with international customers

Today we operate in Milan. We're opening Rome, Turin and Bologna: you can apply there too, but know there isn't a shift waiting for you tomorrow — we'll come back to you when we open.

Five fields. If your profile fits we'll write to arrange a call.

Bring us clients, earn on it

If your work puts you in front of people who are clearing out, selling or moving, you already hold the audience that's hardest to buy. You recommend us, the client pays for the storage, you take a commission.

Do you do something else that puts you in touch with people who move — removal firms, builders, building managers, home stagers? Get in touch: the programme isn't limited to those two categories.

Frequently asked questions about working with us

What kind of contract and pay?

+
We agree them at the interview, depending on the role and the city: we'd rather not put generic numbers on a web page, because an application is based on them. What we can say now is that this isn't a points-and-leaderboards model: they're agreed shifts, with people we actually know.

Do I need my own van?

+
No, it isn't an entry requirement. The “own vehicle” box is in the form because in some situations it changes the kind of shift we can offer you, not because an application without one gets discarded.

Can I apply for a city where you're not operating yet?

+
Yes, and it helps us: applications are one of the signals we use to decide where to open first. Cities we haven't opened are marked “coming soon” in the menu, so it's clear there isn't a shift waiting for you tomorrow. We'll come back to you when we open.

How much work is there?

+
The volume isn't constant: moves cluster into certain periods of the year, and in university cities the summer outweighs everything else. We ask about your availability precisely to see whether your situation copes with that seasonality or whether another kind of job suits you better.

I'm a student — can I apply?

+
Yes. Many smovers started that way, and over the summer it's often a combination that works well. Pick “part time” or “peak periods only” under availability.

What happens after I apply?

+
We read it and, if the profile fits, we write to the email you gave us to arrange an introductory call. If you don't hear from us within a few weeks it means we're not recruiting in that city right now — your application stays on file.
