How does the service work?

Smoves picks up your boxes right from your door, stores them in a secure facility and delivers them back when you return. You book online in minutes, choose your pickup and delivery dates, and we handle the rest.

How do I choose the right box size?

+

It depends on what you're storing: the S (40×30×30 cm) is for small heavy items like books and shoes, the M (60×40×40 cm) for the bulk of everyday things, the L (80×40×40 cm) for bulky-but-light items. All hold up to 20 kg, and when booking you can mix sizes within the same order. For particularly bulky items there's also a made-to-measure XL size, on request: contact support before booking.

How much does it cost?

You pay a single price per box, based on the size you choose, covering the entire storage period: no monthly cost. The only optional extra is the packaging kit, if you need it. The exact quote is calculated in the booking form.

Can I change or cancel my booking?

Before payment you can freely edit or cancel from your account. After payment you can cancel for free, with a full refund, up to 7 days before pickup; you can also request a delivery postponement or update the address up to 7 days before the scheduled date. Beyond these deadlines, or after pickup, email us at info@smoves.it: we assess each case individually.

When will my boxes be picked up?

You choose your pickup date in the booking form, along with your preferred time slot (morning or afternoon): the dates and slots shown are always guaranteed. The pickup is confirmed automatically once payment is completed. On the chosen day our operator comes by within the agreed slot: you just need your boxes ready and accessible (at the entrance or with the concierge) — you don't need to be there in person.

How does delivery work?

Delivery takes place at an address within the municipality of Milan, on the date and time slot you agree on (morning or afternoon). If you're not sure about the date yet, you can give an approximate one and then request a postponement or update the address up to 7 days before.

Which areas do you cover?

We operate in the municipality of Milan: we pick up and deliver to any address within the city limits. Enter your address in the booking form to check coverage instantly. More Italian cities are coming soon: write to us at info@smoves.it and we'll let you know as soon as we open in yours.

How do I prepare my boxes?

Use sturdy boxes and seal them well with strong tape. Spread the weight evenly and avoid overloading: the maximum is 20 kg per box. Don't have boxes? We can provide them on request. We apply the labels at pickup: just write name + number + size by hand (with Smoves packaging your boxes arrive already pre-labeled).

When do I receive the packing materials?

If you add packaging during booking, we deliver it a few days before pickup to the address you provided: we'll contact you to arrange the delivery time. It arrives already pre-labeled with your name and number, so there's nothing to write on the boxes. That way you have time to pack at your own pace before we come to collect.

What can I store?

Clothes, books, linens, shoes, backpacks, sports gear and common household items. Not accepted: battery-powered items or items containing batteries (e.g. smartphones, laptops, tablets, wireless earbuds, power banks, drones, cameras); money and valuables, jewellery, original documents, items worth more than €100, medicines, food and liquids, fragile items, artworks, hazardous or flammable materials, weapons and anything illegal. Mains-powered appliances without a battery are allowed instead (e.g. hair straightener, hair dryer, lamps). If in doubt, message us before pickup.

How long can I keep items in storage?

Available durations vary by season and availability. You can check available dates and periods directly in the booking form.

How do I pay?

You pay once per booking, online via Stripe by credit/debit card or Apple Pay: traceable payment, automatic email receipt, instant confirmation and free cancellation with a full refund up to 7 days before pickup. It's the safest and fastest way for everyone.

Can I pay in cash?

Normally we don't accept this payment method, but if card isn't an option for you, email us at info@smoves.it or use the Support page and we'll see whether we can arrange a custom cash payment for you.

Where and how are my boxes kept?

Your boxes stay in a secure facility. Every box is checked at pickup, uniquely labelled and logged in our system; the facility is indoor, dry and access-controlled.

Do you provide insurance?

+

At the moment we don't provide external insurance for the service; however, we handle your boxes with the utmost care to avoid any kind of damage and, should something unexpected happen, we are liable up to €100 per box.
