Questions about storage during a sabbatical in Florence
I have potted lemon trees on the terrace: do you take them?
No: plants stay out of storage, pots with soil included. Leave them with a neighbor or a friend before you go; empty, clean pots, on the other hand, can go in.
My rental contract won't let me leave early: what changes?
For that, what you signed applies: check the end date and the notice. You book the pickup once you know the day you hand back the keys, and if the date moves you can change it the first time with no penalty, telling us 48 hours ahead.
I have a three-room home: how do I work out the space I need?
Start from the calculator: add the furniture room by room and it gives you the square meters. For a simpler idea there is the size guide.
I'm back for the holidays in December: can I get just my coat?
Yes: you write what you want back, at least 48 hours ahead, and we arrange the partial redelivery together. The rest doesn't leave the warehouse.

Do I have to pay the whole year before I leave?
No. At booking you pay the pickup and save your card; then the fee is charged every month. Redelivery is paid when you book it.

Service and local details
What happens to your furniture if you leave for a year and give up your home?
It stays in storage while you're away, and the apartment goes back to the landlord empty. Twelve months of rent for a sofa nobody uses costs more than twelve months of fees for the space that sofa takes. When you return, you choose which home to bring it to.
The contract has an end date and a notice period
Before you leave, reread the rental contract: the end date and the notice period tell you when the apartment must be empty, and the pickup is set around that date.
You have a terrace or a yard on the hills
In Fiesole, Settignano or Bagno a Ripoli the yard is part of the home: table, chairs and loungers spend a year outdoors. They can go into storage; potted plants cannot.
On return you don't know which home you'll end up in
Maybe you'll look in another district, maybe outside the city. Redelivery is decided when you come back, anywhere in the province of Florence.
How to empty a home before you leave
1. Start from the key date
Set the pickup a few days before handing back to the landlord, so at the final inspection the rooms are clear.
2. We come to collect
We load the furniture and the outdoor pieces. If you have already left Florence, an appointed person to open the door is enough.
3. You travel, we store
The warehouse is indoors, dry and with controlled access. You pay the space used each month with the saved card, and there is nothing else to do while you're away.
4. You return and choose where
You send us the new address at least 48 hours ahead. If you settle abroad instead, we ship on a free quote.

Plants don't go into storage, nor does the soil in pots or fruit trees: they are living things and need someone to look after them. Original documents, cash, food, medicines and liquids also stay with you.

Once booked, the pickup can be moved but not canceled: the first time with no penalty, with 48 hours' notice.
How much does it cost to keep furniture in storage for a year?
You don't pay the whole year at once: the fee is monthly and worked out on the square meters used, at the Florence price list. You pay the pickup at the start, the redelivery when you return. If you already know you'll be away long, more months of commitment lower the pickup price; the fee stays the same.
