Questions about storage during a posting outside Florence
I'm told the site a few weeks ahead: can I still book?
Yes. You book the pickup for the date that suits you and, if the departure changes, you move it: the first time with no penalty, if you tell us at least 48 hours ahead.
If the site is Bologna or Rome, is it worth keeping the apartment?
It depends on how often you come back. From Santa Maria Novella the high-speed train reaches Bologna in under an hour and Rome in about an hour and a half: if you return every week, you keep the apartment. Storage makes sense when you give it up.
I'm a medical resident with lots of books: are there limits?
Boxes must not exceed 20 kg each. With books it's better to half-fill many boxes than to fill a few: they load better and go faster.
Can a colleague hand over the furniture while I'm already away?
Yes, as long as a person you appointed is there at the pickup. Give us their contact and we come when they are home.

What to do with your furniture if you work away from Florence for months?
If you keep the apartment you pay for two homes; if you give it up, the furniture has to go somewhere. Storage sits in between: it costs the space used, renews month by month and ends when the posting does, even if you only learn that day late.
The rotation site is known at the last minute
A medical resident in Careggi can spend some months at another site of the training network: the length is in the program, the city sometimes arrives close to departure.
The fixed-term contract awaits renewal
A one-year posting is extended or ended with little notice. A fee that follows the months, rather than a fixed commitment, handles both.
Subletting isn't always possible
Subletting usually needs the landlord's consent. If it isn't given, or you don't want strangers at home, the apartment is left empty and the furniture goes into storage.
There's no time for a move
Between ward shifts, lectures and lab hours, finding a van and two friends is the last of your worries. We organize the pickup.
How it works, from the posting letter to the return
1. Book as soon as you know the start
The departure date and the space you need are enough: you can give the end of the posting when you know it.
2. We collect in Florence or its province
We do the loading. If you have already left, a colleague, relative or friend you appointed can open the door.
3. The fee follows the posting
Every month it is charged to the saved card and you get the receipt. If the posting runs longer, there is nothing to change.
4. At the end you give us the date
You send the day and the address at least 48 hours ahead and we bring the furniture back. If you settled far away, shipping is on a free quote.

Bed, wardrobe, sofa and table, assembled or taken apart: we collect them as they are.
Study books and texts
Sealed boxes of no more than 20 kg each: medical textbooks are heavy, so choose small boxes filled halfway.
Work equipment
Monitors, printers and computers, switched off and with the battery in good condition.
Appliances
Fridge and washing machine, unplugged, empty and clean.
Travels with you
Work contract, degree or specialisation certificate in the original and other documents stay with you, and so do cash and valuables. Storage doesn't take reagents, liquids and lab materials, food, medicines and plants.

How much does it cost to keep furniture in storage during a posting?
The fee is worked out each month on the square meters used, at the Florence price list. You pay the pickup once, at the start, and the redelivery when you set the return. Choosing more months of commitment lowers the pickup price, never the fee.
