“Excellent service. Whenever I had doubts or questions, they responded very quickly, within a day or two max. The redelivery service is as quick and convenient as it possibly can be, made my life as a student very easy.”

Storing the furniture of an inherited home in Florence: your questions

The home is in the hills, on a narrow road: can you collect?

Write to us before the pickup: address, floor and what the access is like. You give floor and elevator in the quote; if arriving is hard, we talk it through case by case.

There are three of us inheriting, in three cities: how do we divide the pieces?

With partial redelivery: whoever booked writes to us which piece goes to which address, with at least 48 hours' notice. In the province of Florence we bring them ourselves; to other addresses we ship on a quote.

Who can ask for redelivery?

Whoever booked, who is the order holder. If several heirs need to be able to decide, agree on who books: we bring things back where we're told.

Some of the furniture is antique: will you keep it?

Period furniture yes, if well packed. Fine art and valuable collectibles no. If a piece is worth a lot, write to us first: we agree how to handle it.

How much space does a whole house need?

It depends on the home, not the district: a villa can fill far more than a two-room apartment. The calculator tells you which size you fall into, and sizes run from 1 to 30 m².

The home has documents and jewelry: where do they go?

They stay with you or with whoever handles the case. Cash, jewelry, wills and original documents don't go into the warehouse: it's best to set them aside before pickup day.

Service and local details

How do you empty an inherited home in Florence without deciding everything at once?

You take away what's there, and choose later. In Florence, family homes are often large and full: apartments in the palazzi of the center, villas and farmhouses in the hills. Storage moves the choice, piece by piece, to when the heirs have talked, while the home is handed back or put on the market.

  • A apartment in a historic building

Steep flights, narrow landings, sometimes no elevator. You give the floor in the quote and the pickup is planned around it; a piece too long for the stairs can be taken apart, on a quote.

  • A villa or farmhouse in the hills

Fiesole, Bagno a Ripoli, Impruneta: many rooms, cellars and attics. The calculator helps you size the whole lot, and if access is difficult, write to us before the pickup.

  • The heirs don't all live here

A brother in Milan, a cousin abroad. Whoever is far away chooses their pieces when they can and receives them by shipping on a quote.

  • The home has a deadline

If it was rented, the landlord is waiting for the keys; if it's being sold, an empty apartment shows better. The rooms get emptied by a date, the choices about the furniture needn't.

From the family home to the warehouse

  1. 1. Size the space and set the day

The calculator gives you the size; in the quote you enter address, floor and elevator, and you read the rate and the pickup before paying. The order has a single holder.

  2. 2. Whoever booked opens the door, or a delegate

Our crew needs whoever booked, or a person they've named: another heir, a relative. They take furniture and boxes away, room by room.

  3. 3. Every piece has its label

In an indoor, access-controlled warehouse with video surveillance and an alarm, every box is labeled and logged. It can't be visited: to see a piece again, we bring it back.

  4. 4. One redelivery for each heir

Whoever booked writes to us 48 hours ahead saying which pieces go where: one address per heir, if needed. Outside the province, goods are shipped on a quote.

What leaves the home and what doesn't

Can go into storage

  • Antique and modern furniture

Sideboards, chests, tables, beds, bookcases and armchairs, whole or taken apart.

  • Dinner sets, linen and books

In boxes, up to 20 kg; family china is wrapped piece by piece.

  • Pictures and mirrors that aren't fine art

Well packed, and flagged when we come.

  • Appliances

    Unplugged, emptied and clean.

Stays out

Opening drawers and wardrobes turns up things we can't keep: cash, jewelry, wills and other original deeds, medicines, pantry food, fine art and valuable collectibles. For high-value pieces, write to us before the pickup.

What home did you inherit? It changes the pickup

In Florence a family home can be a two-room apartment in the Oltrarno or a villa with outbuildings in the hills. The problems differ, and it's worth knowing them before you set the day.

The homeWhat changesHow you set it up
Apartment in a building in the historic centerNarrow flights, often no elevator, long pieces to get throughYou give floor and elevator in the quote; disassembly is added on a quote
Villa or farmhouse in the hillsMany rooms, with cellars and attics to emptyYou size the space with the calculator and write before the pickup if access is difficult
Apartment in Isolotto, Novoli or Campo di MarteMore recent buildings, where there's often an elevator, and usually fewer piecesA single pickup, with a quote that follows floor and elevator
Home with heirs in different citiesEach one wants different pieces at a different addressPartial redelivery to each address; outside the province we ship on a quote

Period furniture is accepted if carefully packed; fine art and valuable collectibles are not. What an antique is worth is for an appraiser to say: if you need to see it again, we bring it back.

How much does storing furniture from an inherited home cost?

Each month you pay a rate on the space you take up, using the Florence price list; the pickup is paid once, at the start. Redelivery is booked and paid separately, and shipping outside the province is quoted. If you commit to more months, the discount applies to the pickup, not the rate. You read both items in the quote before confirming.
