“Excellent service. Whenever I had doubts or questions, they responded very quickly, within a day or two max. The redelivery service is as quick and convenient as it possibly can be, made my life as a student very easy.”

FAQ on storage to make space at home in Florence

Do you clear cellars or dispose of things?

No. Storage keeps what you want back: a cellar to be emptied completely, or furniture to be taken away for good, stay with you and the waste service. We only collect what goes into the warehouse.

How do I dispose of what I don't want back, in Florence?

For bulky waste the operator is ALIA: on its website you find how to book a collection. To us you can entrust only what you want to find again.

I live in a historic building with no elevator: does the pickup change?

The loading time changes: more flights, more minutes. Floor and elevator go in the quote, where you see the estimate of the extra time before booking.

The cellar left something damp: can I put it into storage?

Wet or dirty items can't go in. If you dry and clean what you want to keep, it can go: paper and fabric go in closed boxes, each under 20 kg.

More questions

After a few months can I get just a couple of things back?

Yes, and you ask in writing: tell us which pieces you want back, giving us 48 hours' notice, and for everything else the contract carries on as it is.

Service and local details

When does storage make more sense than throwing out?

When you don't yet know whether you want things back and keeping them at home costs space every day. In Florence, between buildings without elevators and distant cellars, moving things is the hard part: we collect, store indoors and bring back only what you want back. Disposing of what you don't want stays with you.

  • The building's cellar is full

Trunks, old skis and boxes of books fill the cellar up to the door. What you want to keep but don't use comes to us, and the cellar becomes a place you can walk into again.

  • The house in the hills has more rooms than people living in it

Villas and farmhouses have kept trunks and furniture for generations. No rush to choose: storage runs month by month, and meanwhile the rooms can breathe.

  • You don't want to decide today

Throwing out can't be undone, setting aside can. A few months out of the house tell you what you really miss better than an hour of sorting.

  • Boxes never opened since the last move

The one labeled «misc» has seen two moves and a graduation. Out of the house it waits with us, and no longer weighs on the room.

From cellar to storage, in four moves

  1. 1. Make two piles

One is «maybe I want it back», the other is «to dispose of»: only the first goes with us. You choose space and day, and before paying you read rate and pickup in the quote.

  2. 2. We carry it down

We carry furniture and boxes down ourselves, even from a fourth floor with no elevator. You write the floor in the quote, with the elevator if there is one, and the loading time is estimated from there.

  3. 3. We keep it, month by month

The warehouse is closed and dry, with controlled entry, surveillance and an alarm. Each box is checked when we collect it, then labeled and logged.

  4. 4. You take home only what you want back

Ask for redelivery, even of just part, and the rest stays. What you've decided not to keep you dispose of yourself, we don't do disposal.

What you set aside, and what you can't

Can go into storage

  • Family furniture to decide on

Sideboards, tables, chairs and wardrobes, whole or taken apart. Large pieces go without a box.

  • Trunks, suitcases, attic stuff

What comes in useful once in a while, or maybe never.

  • Books, magazines, sheet music

In boxes of 20 kg at most, so one person lifts them alone.

  • Idle appliances

Unplugged, emptied and clean. Battery ones only in good condition and switched off.

Doesn't go in

Cash and valuables, original personal documents, food, liquids and hazardous materials stay out. So do things that are dirty, wet or broken for the trash: storage keeps, it doesn't dispose.

Where stuff piles up, and what can become of it

Every corner of a home collects its own kind of stuff. By place, what's usually there and which road it takes: storage for what you want back, disposal for the rest, which is up to you.

How much does it cost to make space without throwing out?

What you take up in the warehouse you pay for month by month, from the Florence price list, starting at 1 m². At the start there's the pickup, one-off; you settle redelivery only if and when you ask for it. The more months you commit to, the less the pickup weighs, while the rate stays the one on the list.
