Questions about storage during a renovation in Florence
I don't know how long the work will take: do I need to say when I book?
No. Storage renews month by month, and you choose the return date once the builders have finished, requesting redelivery with 48 hours' notice.
Can I get just one room back before the end?
Yes. Tell us what you need, 48 hours ahead at the latest: we bring those pieces back and keep the rest until the work is done. There's no dedicated button in your account, you ask in writing.
I live in the center, inside the ZTL, with no elevator: can you collect?
Yes. In the quote you give the floor and whether there's an elevator, and the street in the notes. The gates of sectors A, B and O switch on at 7:30 a.m. and off at 8 p.m. on weekdays, at 4 p.m. on Saturdays: knowing the street in advance lets us plan the pickup.
Can I choose any day for a pickup in Florence?
No: we aren't in town every day. The quote calendar only offers the dates when we are: if a date is free, it's a good one.

Do I have to pack everything myself?
Large furniture is loaded as it is. Smaller items need boxes: if you have none, add them while you book and we bring them before the pickup. If you're short on time between site meetings with the builders, our crew can pack for you, and you pay for the time.

Where can your furniture go while you renovate in Florence?
Out of the house, in storage, while the builders work. Moving it from room to room slows the crew down and leaves it exposed to dust. We collect it in Florence and its province before the work starts, it stays in storage for the whole job and comes home when you ask, even if the schedule runs over.
The builders want empty rooms
Floors, plaster and wiring are easier to redo in an empty home. We do the clearing, on the day you set before the start.
The work runs over
In an old house, once a wall is opened the schedule can change. Storage carries on month by month: no end date to guess now.
Your apartment is in the historic center
The historic center of Florence was listed as UNESCO World Heritage in 1982, and many of its buildings have narrow stairs and no elevator. In the quote you give the floor and whether there's an elevator, and the pickup is planned around it.
No cellar, and no relative with space
Your sofa, wardrobes and beds don't have to end up in someone's garage. They wait in storage, and you're charged only for the floor area they occupy.
How to clear the house before the work
1. Pick space and date in the quote
You enter the square meters and the day of the pickup. The calendar only offers the dates we work in Florence: choose one a few days before the builders move in.
2. We come and load
Our crew takes away furniture, appliances and boxes. If you live inside the ZTL, add your street to the notes: the gates are active on weekdays and Saturdays, and we need to know beforehand.
3. The builders work, your things wait
The rate is paid monthly, however long the work actually takes. If you need something before the end, you can get it back with a partial redelivery.
4. Work done, back home
When the builders hand back the keys, request redelivery with 48 hours' notice. We bring the furniture back in Florence or its province; if your plans have changed and you're going further, shipping is on a quote.

Storage doesn't take cash and valuables, original documents, food and liquids, fine art, damaged batteries or hazardous materials. On a building site those are mostly paint, thinners and glues: they stay with the builders, not with us.
Before, during and after the work
A renovation has three stages, and each one has something to do with your storage. Here they are in order, so the pickup and return dates don't clash with the builders' own.

Once booked, a pickup isn't canceled, only rescheduled. From the second reschedule, or with less than 48 hours' notice, moving it has a charge.
What does storing furniture during the work cost?
The rate is monthly and follows the square meters used, on the Florence price list; and the pickup once, at the start. You see the redelivery price when you book it, once the work is over. The more months you commit to, the lower the pickup cost; the rate stays the same.
