Goods storage in Florence FAQ
Do you collect from my store in the center?
Yes. We load where you tell us, even inside the ZTL: write the street in the notes, and we explain how we'll organize the loading before fixing the date. Floor, stairs and the hours when loading is allowed go in the same field.
Do you collect palletized goods?
The service is built for boxes one person can lift, 20 kg at most each, and for bulky items we load as they are. We have no forklifts or loading docks. With goods already on pallets, message us before booking and we'll look at your case.
Are you a logistics operator?
No. Smoves started in 2026: we collect, store and bring back. We don't do picking, order fulfillment or shipments to your end customers. If you need that, look for a logistics operator.
Can I have only part of the goods brought back?
Yes. You write which boxes you want back, and we return with those: the rest stays in safekeeping, under the same contract.

Can I collect the goods myself?
No, the facility isn't open to visits: in exchange you never drive out to a warehouse. If you need to walk in whenever you like, you need a warehouse of your own.
How do you keep track of the boxes?
Every box is checked at pickup, labeled with a code and recorded. From your account you see what you have in storage. The count is per box: what's inside it, you know.
Do you issue invoices?
Yes. The business service is invoiced with a VAT number, with a single contact for the whole job.

Service and local details
When is storage better than a warehouse of your own?
When goods stay still longer than they move, and the spaces on offer are meant for people loading and unloading every day. A store in the center or a small studio often needs a few dozen square meters, for a few months, and nobody to send driving out to a warehouse.
The back room is full
In premises in the historic center, under the vaults of an old building, space is tight. Surplus stock, sample ranges and packaging go elsewhere until they're needed.
Stock that follows the season
When the goods arrive, we measure how much they take up and write to you if the rate changes. Size the space on your busiest months with the calculator.
The lease is ending, the new place isn't ready
You move the goods to us while you look for or fit out the new premises, without rushing to sign the first free space.
Nobody can get to a warehouse out of town
A distant unit also costs the time of whoever goes: the trip, the loading and the way back, every visit. Here the van comes to you.
How does goods storage work?
You book online the square meters and the pickup day, choosing among the days on which we are in Florence: the date you see is already confirmed. We load at the address you give, every box gets a code, and when you need the goods you book the redelivery, even for just a part.
1. Request a quote
You say how many square meters the goods take up and the date. The quote shows rate and pickup before you pay, and you get an invoice.
2. We collect on site
Store, studio, warehouse or garage, in Florence or a town of the province. Every box is checked, labeled with a unique code and recorded.
3. We store it
It stays indoors, in a dry, access-controlled warehouse, with video surveillance and an alarm.
4. We bring it back when you need it
Ask for redelivery with at least 48 hours' notice. If you need only part of it back, tell us which boxes: the rest stays in safekeeping.
What goods can we store?
Packed, non-perishable goods: warehouse stock, sample ranges, supplies, spare parts, promotional material, equipment, plus fittings and shelving you clear along with them. Food, liquids and medicines don't go into storage.

Not allowed
Money and valuables, original documents, medicines, food and liquids, hazardous or flammable materials, weapons, damaged or tampered batteries. If in doubt, message us before pickup.
A warehouse to rent, or storage at your door?
It depends how you work. If you move goods every day and need to walk in whenever you like, a space of your own works better. If the goods sit for months and nobody can drive out to a warehouse, Smoves storage is the simpler answer.

The table compares two ways of working, naming nobody. The limit of ours is plain: you don't walk into the warehouse, so if you need to fetch a box at seven in the evening it isn't for you.
What does goods storage in Florence cost?
The Florence price list applies: a fixed monthly rate for the size you take up, from 1 to 30 square meters, with no deposit and no minimum term. On top comes the pickup with transport, once. If you commit to more months the discount is on the pickup. Every redelivery is paid when you request it, with the figure visible before you confirm. If the goods go to another address outside the province, we ship them on a quote. You receive an invoice.
