The answers you need
When can I book summer storage?
Between April and early June. The second half of June and early July fill up first. If a day carries a surcharge, because it's close or falls at the weekend, you see it in the calendar before paying.
When does the pickup happen?
Between early June and late July, based on your needs and our calendar availability. You choose the date in the form among the available ones: they are always guaranteed and the booking is confirmed automatically once you pay.
When does redelivery happen?
When you ask for it, usually between late August and late September. You book it from your account with at least 48 hours' notice, picking the date from those available, and pay for it then.
How much does summer storage cost?
The price has two lines: a fixed monthly rate for the square meters you take up, and the pickup at your door, paid once. The boxes and suitcases from one room usually fit in one or two square meters, and a summer is three or four monthly rates. You pay for September's redelivery when you book it. Work out the rate and the pickup in the quote.

What if I don't return to Milan in September?
We can: 1) redeliver your boxes to another address, say in Monza or Bergamo (a friend who receives for you); 2) extend storage for additional months; 3) ship them further, in Italy or abroad, on a quote. You decide, just message us in chat.
Can I add boxes during summer?
When your boxes reach the warehouse we measure the space they really take up: if it's less than the size you booked the rate goes down, if it's more it goes up, and either way we let you know. If in mid-July you realize you want to store more, message us in chat and we'll look at it together.
What CAN'T I leave in summer storage?
Still forbidden: cash and valuables, jewelry, original personal documents (passport, ID card, driving license, wills, original degree certificates — document archives are allowed instead), damaged, swollen or tampered batteries, fine art and valuable collectibles, medicines, food and drinks, liquids, flammable or hazardous materials, weapons, plants and animals, motor vehicles, and anything dirty, wet or illegal. Allowed instead, under conditions: fragile items if well packed and flagged at pickup, appliances if unplugged, emptied and clean, and battery-powered devices — from a laptop to an electric scooter — if in good condition, switched off and with an intact battery. If in doubt, message us before pickup.
Is there a maximum deadline for summer storage?
No: storage carries on month by month until you ask for the redelivery, so your boxes can stay past September. If you have specific needs about the duration, message us in chat.

The summer storage calendar
1. Book
You book when you know the date of your last exam, not once you've sat it: late June slots go first.
April - May
2. Pickup
We come to your place in the time slot you chose. If you've already left, a roommate or whoever you've delegated opens the door.
June - July
3. Storage
An indoor, dry, access-controlled warehouse, with CCTV and an alarm.
July - August
4. Redelivery
You're back in Milan and we bring everything to your new address, which is almost never June's one.

Why summer storage pays off
At the end of the academic year the usual choice is between taking everything home (train, car, and your parents' house full of boxes) or leaving it all in your Milan apartment, paying rent for some boxes.
With storage you travel home light, you can give notice, and in September we bring everything to your new address.

Keep the tenancy over the summer, or give notice?
Keep the room and you pay three full months not to sleep in it; give notice and you have two things to solve, where the stuff goes and where you come back to in September. Storage solves the first and leaves you free on the second, because we redeliver to the new address. Do the math with your rent and the quote, which takes 2 minutes.
When should I book summer storage?
Between April and early June. At the Università Statale the second semester runs from March to June, and other universities are similar: at the end of June many students clear their rooms on the same days, and those days fill up first. The pickup price changes with the day, and pickups at short notice or at the weekend cost more: booking early at least avoids the short-notice surcharge, and you get your date before everyone else.
Who is behind Smoves
Smoves came out of an end of June like that: a room to clear, exams not finished, parents a few hundred kilometers away.
